2/14/2012 Alumni Testimony 2/14/2012

Mark, a GCA alumni, from the class of 1997 recently asked to be given the chance to share his testimony.  Click the title above to hear what he had to say about the difference GCA made in his life.

Mrs. Hummitzsch recently received this letter from a former student.

Being in the midst of my senior year of college, I've been taking a lot of time to reflect on the past few years at North Central (and how quickly they flew by!).  This year, I've been doing a lot of work with incoming freshman, and as I talk, e-mail, and answer questions for them on a daily basis, I continue to realize more and more how well-prepared I was for college!  I realize that I owe so much of this to you (and the rest of the faculty of Grace) and that is this something I took for granted until I got to see the opposite firsthand.  So, I wanted to say thank you so much for everything you do.  Thank you for all of the sacrifices you have made to invest and pour into your students.  Thank you for preparing us to be responsible adults in college and in life.  You've made a huge difference in my life and in the lives of others and I appreciate it.  God bless you and all that you do!

GAL:0:6:Christmas Toy DriveGrace Christian Academy teamed up with Kids 2 Kids, Village at Manor Park and Kapco in a Christmas Toy drive.  It was a huge success and the families of Grace Christian Academy were very generous in their donations to those less fortunate in the Milwaukee Area.  The 1st, 3rd and 4th grade classes went to the Village at Manor Park to deliver the toys that were donated.  They also sang Christmas Carols to the Grandmas and Grandpas there and a fun time was had by all.  Thank you to those who were a blessing and shared the love of Christ this Christmas.

This year's Veteran's Day Chapel featured the Poppy Princess.  Sara Folgert told student's, teachers and Veterans how she wanted to make sure that the women Veterans were never forgotten.

An article posted in the New Berlin Now newspaper about Sara and her mission is posted here:

Dear Teachers and Students,

On behalf of the American Legion and all our veterans who have served this great nation, please accept our "thanks" and "job well done" for helping your young people serve their community. They served our brave women by recognizing not only those who have fought for their freedoms, but also for those in our current military by writing letters to our female veterans.

As history has taught us, we have easily forgotten the two simple words of "Thank You" to our service men and women.

It is your generation who must now support and thank the soldier of this time in history for all the freedoms you continue to have. You have recognized your part in today's world and have stepped up to take on the challenge of remembering it's never too late to say thank you to any of our military, but especially those who seem to get overlooked the woman veteran.

Mrs. Hummitzsch, thank you for mentoring your school in their obligation as a citizen, as a child of God, and as a member of this great nation. You have all come forward and willingly and generously give a thoughtful expression of gratitude through your letters. Many were read by the women at Zablocki VA Center and great emotion was expressed by all. Your children genuinely understand the meaning of compassion and gratefully and lovingly showed it. You can be proud of them all!

God bless you all,
Barbara Naffier, Chairman
Woman Veterans "Thank You" Project
The American Legion Family.
